Celebrating One Year After Andrew's Open Heart Triple Bypass Operation

On 12 April 2022 I underwent open heart surgery and had a triple bypass. When I was told the date of the operation, in my mind and considering the severity of the surgery, I thought it would be my last day, so, I made some necessary plans. But then, to my relief hours later I woke up in the intensive care unit. What a relief! In pain and realising that I was attached to tubes and machines didn't really matter. I'd made it through the operation and was alive.

On 12 April 2023 I will cycle with my wife from Den Haag in the Netherlands to Antwerp in Belgium to raise money for the Hartstichting. Thank you to the wonderful doctors and nurses who cared for me and to my wife, Mireille, who is always by my side.
